An authentic gastropub experience in a unique and relaxed setting awaits you at Artichoke in Bridgwater. The three words used to sum up what this family run restaurant does are simple, elegant and tasty, which says it all – no wonder this place is getting great reviews.
Interiors are rustic-modern with a slight industrial edge; think wooden floors, soft lighting and white painted brickwork. Outside in the large courtyard there are tables and shelters where you can dine beneath the twinkly lights. They have 4 menus, run according to what day it is. There’s a Brunch and Pub Menu from 11:00am-2:30pm Thursday to Saturday, a Pub and A La Carte menu from 5:30pm-9:30pm Tuesday to Saturday, and on Sundays roast is served from 12:00-3:00pm.
So, if you’ve skipped breakfast get down to Artichoke for brunch; choose from the likes of a Full English, Pork belly roll, Salmon sourdough and Eggs Benedict. The Pub menu has Tapas and nibbles to start, moving onto mains of Honey glazed half chicken, BBQ baby black ribs and Handcut Parapdelle, as well as dry aged steaks, burgers, and pizzas. Go for A La Carte dining and you might start with Duck liver pate, Beetroot cured salmon or Slow cooked octopus, before tucking into mains of Beef Wellington, Pan fried cod, Rump of lamb, or Cote de Bouef. Sunday Roast is a choice of Pork belly or Slow roasted beef, Caramelised turkey breast, Sea bream and vegetarian/vegan options. It’s all made with passion and creativity, using fresh, quality ingredients sourced as locally as possible.
Look out for the great deals too – like 2-4-1 cocktails between 6:00pm and 7:00pm Tuesday to Saturday, Tapas and Sangria on Friday nights, and on Thursdays, 2 steaks and a glass of house wine or a pint of beer. You can expect excellent food, good wine and friendly service every time.
