Avebury Stone Circle, Museum and Manor House, Avebury, Wiltshire
Avebury Stone Circle is one of the best known prehistoric sites in Britain, dating back to Neolithic times. The henge and three stone circles are set around the Wiltshire village of Avebury and contain the largest megalithic stone circle in the world. Tourists come to marvel at it, followers of paganism come to worship. Whilst you’re here you should go to the visitor centre where you can book a guided tour, or buy tickets to see the 16th century manor house; there’s an interactive museum and a few little cafes where you can have a cup of tea and scones with lashings of jam and cream. The whole village is managed by the National Trust, so as you can imagine, it’s all very pretty
