Barleymow's Farm Shop and Restaurant, near Chard, Somerset
At the top of the hill on the A30 as you leave the Somerset market town of Chard, you’ll see this popular farm shop and restaurant on the right. Go inside and you'll find it's well stocked, with fresh meat from the farm, and produce that’s either home grown or locally sourced; there’s a good selection of local meats and desserts in the freezers, including some divine ice cream, there are jams and pickles, fresh bread comes in daily and they usually have hot pies and pasties for those who are eating on the hoof. It's a positive cornucopia of local goodness - there's even a good selection of gifts if you’re looking for something to take back from your holiday in Somerset.
The fully licensed restaurant serves delicious home cooked food for breakfasts and lunch, and cakes and snacks all day. If the weather is good enough you can sit outside on the patio and admire the far reaching views whilst you sip your tea and the kids have fun in the play area.
In the summer months there’s a fish shack and an ice cream hut outside, and a real draw for local families and visitors is the annual Maize Maze and Outdoor Activity Field. Plenty of level parking is a bonus, and the shop and restaurant are both access friendly.
