Bathampton Mill, Bathampton, Somerset
This riverside pub bar and restaurant in Bathampton just a couple of miles from Bath is one to earmark for lunch after a stroll along the Kennet & Avon Canal, or after pottering about admiring the old houses and cottages in the village. They have a pretty courtyard and garden where you can have a drink in the sunshine, but if the weather is a bit gloomy stay inside; you’ll find lots of cosy little nooks where you can hanker down and peruse the menu. The focus is on fresh seasonal dishes, with something for vegetarians, vegans and even a children’s menu. There are platters to share, pizzas and sandwiches, or some very tempting mains like Roasted Belly Pork & Seared Scallops, Lobster & Devon Crab Fishcakes, Buttermilk Southern Fried Chicken, or 7oz Fillet Steak topped with Cropwell Bishop Custard, Stilton & Walnut Crumb. A nice diversion if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city but be aware that reviews are mixed, with some issues over the service. Still, you can’t believe everything you read on the internet, some say it’s very good. Over to you.
