Beachcomber Café, Barton On Sea, Hampshire

Beachcomber Café tends to get very busy in the summer, but then, that’s hardly surprising when you consider the location on the clifftop at Barton on Sea on the Hampshire coast. The sea views are stunning, as you can imagine, stretching across to the Isle of Wight.

The café has been run by the same family since 1989, so they’re used to welcoming the thousands of visitors they have each year, people who come for a cup of tea or a bite to eat after a day on the beach, or when they’re out for a stroll in the winter. The food is traditional British fare, all home cooked and served with a smile. They start off early doors with cooked breakfasts and carry on with mains like homemade steak and mushroom pie, fish cakes, stone bass, lasagne, fish and chips and pizzas, or if you want something lighter there’s a choice of sarnies, omelettes, pasties and cream teas.

They like to go with the seasons at Beachcomber Café so in the summer they have Barbecue Nights at the weekends, and sometimes during the year they’ll host other events for good cheer, like an Italian Night, that kind of thing. They light the wood-burner when it gets cold and in the summer, you can sit out in the garden and soak up the sun and those amazing views.

Beachcomber Café is open every day except for Christmas Day. Dogs are welcome as long as they behave themselves.
