Becky Falls Ancient Woodland Park, Manaton, Newton Abbott, Devon
Becky Falls Ancient Woodland Park is a rather magical place so if you’re planning days out for when you’re on your large group holiday in Devon, put this on your list. This award winning family attraction has the most beautiful natural woodlands that provide the perfect habitat for wildlife – if you don’t make too much noise you might spot squirrels leaping from branch to branch and birds chirruping in the treetops.
There are woodland walks and nature trails that vary in length and terrain – the longer ones will require stout footwear. At the heart of the park there’s a spectacular natural waterfall cascading 70ft down over the rocks into the Becka Brook and on down through the valley through mossy covered boulders. It’s a wonderful sight.
There are animals to see, among them Shetland ponies, miniature goats, rare breed pigs, giant tortoises, snakes and lizards. Gather round for the keeper talks and meerkat feeding time, then when it’s your feeding time head for the picnic area or to the woodland café where they serve light bites, paninis and burgers. A final call to the gift shop for a souvenir would only seem right.
