Beyond The Woods - Accommodation

Beyond The Woods is set in such a wonderful location, deep in the Somerset countryside; drive through the high-hedged lanes, turn onto the private drive and you’re there; all your worries will slip gently away the minute you arrive. Step into a wide hallway where a handcrafted oak staircase leads to the first floor and huge windows give staggering views across the valley. To the left of the hallway a ramp leads to the living room, a huge light and airy space that wraps around one side of the house and continues through to the dining area; to the left doors open onto the terrace, to the right is the kitchen - so it's all very convenient and perfect for those happy family celebrations when you're all having a scrumptious feast.

The kitchen is big and very well-equipped, which helps to take the stress out of catering for a large group. Next to it there’s a snug which makes a great room for a quiet chat or for younger children to play. If you're fond of wildlife you'll enjoy watching the birds that come to the feeders outside of the snug and the kitchen; nuthatch, greater spotted woodpecker, long-tailed tit and bullfinch are among the regular visitors.

Back in the hallway, straight ahead there’s a cloakroom, and to the right, a utility room with laundry facilities; this can be accessed from the covered area outside, handy for when you come back from a country walk with wet coats, muddy boots and wet dogs. Right at the end of the ground floor is Bedroom 1, which has an ensuite wet room, and zip and link beds (super king or twins) plus an additional single and room for another if required (no charge). What a great room for a family! Note that the ground floor of Beyond The Woods is access friendly and can accommodate wheelchairs.

Upstairs are Bedrooms 2-6. To the left is the family bathroom with a bath and separate shower, at the end of the long landing is Bedroom 2, which has an ensuite shower room and can accommodate 2 extra guest beds at an additional charge each - these are great for children; what's lovely about this room is the floor to ceiling windows, taking full advantage of those incredible views. Continue round to Bedroom 3, which is right opposite the family bathroom, and to Bedrooms 4-6, all with ensuite shower rooms. Remember that the beds at Beyond The Woods are zip and link so they can be arranged as super kings or twins - select your options after you've made your booking and leave it to us.

The large landscape gardens are beautiful, with a lavender edged pergola, and meandering paths that slope gently round and about. There are surprises around almost every corner and several seating areas; on the terrace outside the house is The Giant's Table - a huge bespoke outdoor table that really comes into its own on sunny days when you want to dine outdoors; the patio outside the spa hall makes a lovely spot for morning coffee. The spa hall is just across the lawn from the house and is seriously impressive; huge windows look out onto the garden, there's a 13.5m long L-shaped pool, a sunken hot tub, sauna, changing rooms, showers and a WC. For peace of mind the door has a keypad lock, but we suspect you’ll all be out there larking about together, young and old.

Children will love the play area with a roundabout and climbing fort, the ground level trampoline, and covered games area. Explore the farmland and you’ll find a Stamp Box challenge and woods with log swings and a slide. It’s all so magical, and if you keep very, very quiet you might even spot the roe deer that come down to the fields to feed. Now that’s special, just like your stay at Beyond The Woods will be.
