Bicknoller, Somerset
If you were to lose your way pootling around the western slopes of the Quantock Hills on your large group holiday in Somerset, and you ended up in Bicknoller, you’d probably think how lucky you were to chance upon this picturesque little village.
The heaths and hills of the Quantocks rise steeply from the village where centuries old thatched cottages stand laneside, wisteria and roses rampant on the walls. Park up and have a wander round, soak up some of that charm before you venture off into the hills for a walk; potter along the charmingly named Honey Row Lane and you’ll find the village shop, well stocked with local goods - jam, eggs, cakes, cheese and cold meats. You can sit outside with a mug of tea and admire the views, or if you fancy something more substantial stroll over to the Bicknoller Inn for hearty homemade pub food.
It's like time has stood still in Bicknoller, in the loveliest way; it’s a lovely place to be, so far removed from the crazy pace of life these days.
