Bristol Aquarium, Bristol, Somerset
There are more than 40 displays at this amazing aquarium on Bristol harbourside. You’ll see seahorses, puffer fish, piranhas and sharks amongst the thousands of aquatic creatures who live here. Spot moon jellyfish, rare orange lobsters and catsharks in the wreck of the Sunken Ship; see leopard sharks, cleaner wrasse and soldierfish on the colourful Coral Seas, and watch hundreds of tropical fish swim over your head in the Underwater Tunnel. There’s an Urban Jungle where you can see all kinds of exotic plants and trees, a Bay of Rays, and the Mighty Amazon pool, home to terrapins and freshwater fish.
The appropriately nautically themed C-Shed Café serves fresh wraps and paninis, cakes and snacks; there’s a colouring-in station to keep those little hands busy, and there’s free wifi. It’s a fascinating place this; put it on your list for an afternoon out when you’re planning your large group holiday in Somerset.
