Christmas Steps Arts Quarter is a very unique part of Bristol, a part of the city you’ll adore if you like one-of-a-kind shops, art galleries and studios. Nothing is run of the mill here; with arched alleyways and enticing ‘secret’ passages, it feels almost like you’ve stepped into a Harry Potter world, especially as dusk falls and the street lamps come on.
Within the Arts Quarter is the historic Christmas Steps, a cobbled stepped lane that dates back to the 1600s, full of charm and lined with centuries old buildings. Browse the little shops and artisan wares - pottery, clothes, shoes, jewellery, musical instruments, you name it, it’s here. Christmas Steps even has its own theatres, a townhouse museum, and several pubs, cafes and restaurants. If you fancy stopping off for something to eat, it has to be The Christmas Steps pub, cosy and old school style.
