Cowes Week, Cowes, Isle of Wight, Hampshire

Cowes Week is one of the highlights of the British sporting calendar and has grown to immense proportions since it began in 1826. Since then it’s been held every year with three exceptions – the two world wars, and for obvious reasons, 2020. With over 8,000 competitors, 800-1,000 boats and up to 40 races a day, it’s the largest sailing regatta in the world, and so every year in early August the crowds flock to the Isle of Wight to soak up the vibrant carnival atmosphere. Besides the competitive sailing there are activities and live entertainment on and off shore, so go along and be a part of it. To see that many boats on the water with their colourful sails billowing in the wind is a spectacle indeed. Take your camera.
