Cricklehaze - Accommodation
Turn off the A30 and drive slowly along the winding country lane to Cricklehaze; head down the drive, park up and let your holiday begin. Take the steps or the access friendly path to the door and step into the hallway; the walls are the originals, built from hefty local stone, up above are lights made from repurposed milking jars, remnants of when this luxury large group holiday house was a dairy.
To the right are Bedrooms 1 and 3, both with ensuite shower rooms, to the left are Bedrooms 2 and 4 with a bathroom with a bath and walk-in shower between them. What’s great is that all the bedrooms have zip and link beds that can be arranged as a king size or twins, and Bedrooms 2-4 all have room for an extra guest bed (charged) so can sleep 3.
Step down to the enormous open-plan living space, into the living room area with very colourful seating and a huge TV. Take a moment to appreciate the interiors here because it’s all been so well thought out; level flooring with underfloor heating, a vaulted ceiling with restored oak timbers, and quirky one-off artworks providing playful splashes of colour. Old milk churns have been upcycled as stools and table pedestals, copper piping is put to good use as curtain poles and for clothes hanging, and you’ll see plenty of those milk jar lights.
In the middle of this vast room is the kitchen, fully equipped, with built-in appliances and a massive central island. Full height doors open onto the patio and at the far end of the room is the funkiest dining table you’ve ever seen, a work of art in itself! What an amazing setting for any celebration feast! Check out the Extras page for a list of recommended private chefs, hire them to do the cooking for you.
Follow another hallway and on the left is Bedroom 5, another one with room for an extra guest bed. Further along is another bathroom and then Bedroom 6; Next is Bedroom 7, wheelchair friendly with doors opening to the patio, and an ensuite wet room.
Right outside the house the large patio wraps round to the side of the house; just outside the kitchen there’s a covered alfresco dining area with seating and a barbecue. Across the lawn is the icing on the cake – the spa hall, all yours for the whole of your stay; outside there’s a lounging area with far reaching views across the valley. Step inside and on the left there’s a loo, and straight ahead, the games room/movie room. This is a great place to hang out, with a multi-use games table, table football, a U-shape sofa and a projector with wall projection. You can even see the action in the pool via a large viewing window, so it’s easy to keep an eye on older children if you need to.
Continue through to the changing rooms, showers, WC, sink and washer/dryer - note the quirky hand made sink, carved from one huge piece of natural stone. Then it’s into the pool room which has secure locking doors for peace of mind. Just inside there’s a large sauna, centre place is the pool, measuring 10m x 5.5m, with plenty of room for loungers to one side. Full height windows overlook the lawn, and to one end of the room is the hot tub, made of stainless steel and sunk into the floor – quirky, yes, but that’s how it is at Cricklehaze.
So come see, come and stay, come and have an amazing time because this is a large group holiday house you’ll want to shout about. There’s fun to be had and memories to be made; let the good times roll!
