Everyone's heard of Dartington Crystal, right? It's an iconic brand that's been at the forefront of British glassware and handmade crystal for over 50 years, and is famous for its mouth blown pieces and homewares. Well, when you're on your holiday in North Devon you can go to the Dartington Crystal factory at Great Torrington and enjoy a factory experience which gives you an insight into how the glassware is made. It's a chance to see skilled craftsmen at work and to watch how they turn and blow the glass.
They have a Visitor Centre here where you can find out the story of Dartington Crystal, try some of the hands on activities and see a master engraver at work. There's also a factory shop that sells Dartington crystal and glassware of course, as well as other brands including KH Ltd, Portmeirion, Prices of London and T&G Bristol. Go and treat yourselves to something nice and then go to the on site cafe for tea and cake or a light lunch.
