Even though Dartmoor Zoological Park is classed as a smaller zoo, you don’t really need us to tell you what a great family day out this is, so make it part of your itinerary for your large group holiday in the South West. Go and say hello to Hayley the brown bear, Jasiri the second largest African lion in the UK, Chana the Brazlian Tapir, Chincha the jaguar, and all the other animals – wolves, otters, agouti, zebra, wallabies, reindeer, a royal python, electric blue geckos, corn snakes, ostrich, blue and gold macaws…phew! Loads more! Like most zoos, this place is big on conservation and education and one of their aims is to be a leading animal cognition research centre, partnering with Plymouth University to start the Dartmoor Institute of Animal Science.
If you have an animal lover with a birthday that coincides with your holiday book up an animal experience day; they have several but to give you an idea there’s Meet the Lynx, Feed the Meerkats, Meet the Tiger, Reptile and Bug Experience. Something that won’t be forgotten in a hurry.
