Doniford Beach, Somerset

Go down to Doniford Beach and hunt about for shells and white ammonites; see what you can find in the rockpools, take the dog for a run. Just enjoy the peace and quiet; it’s a mix of sand, rocks, and mudflats so it doesn’t pull the crowds, but it’s lovely and a little wild. Go through Watchet to get there and look out for a gap in the hedge where there’s a little car park that leads straight to the beach. There are toilets, a shop and a pub nearby, or walk to Watchet for more facilities and to explore the town and harbour.
