Dovesway Accommodation

When you arrive at Dovesway, look up at this lovely old manor house with its Tudor style exterior. Isn’t it wonderful? And it’s all yours, if only for a while. Go through the gates at the side of the house and in through the door to the utility room where you can leave your muddy boots and coats after a walk in the Herefordshire countryside. In the corner of the room stairs lead to the snug/TV room; separate from the rest of the house, this is a good place to escape to for a quiet read or to catch up on your favourite soap.

Step up from the utility room to the large kitchen, well equipped with a 4 oven Aga as well as a separate cooker and hob. Whoever’s doing the cooking won’t be left out; there’s a central island with stools, and to one end of the room, comfy seating, so you can all gather together happily.

Go through to the dining room, with a galleried landing up above; to one end French doors open onto the garden, in the middle there’s a long wooden table – a fantastic manorial setting for any celebration feast. A long hallway with rich oak panelled walls and flagstone floors runs almost the entire length of Dovesway; an enormous front door (over 400 years old!) opens to a porch where built-in benches offer a place to sit, out of the hot summer sun.

You’ll soon notice the quirkiness of the house, how things aren’t entirely uniform, the walls and floors are slightly askew; there are charming historic features - leaded windows, centuries old timbers and huge roof trusses, all adding to the charm.

Next to the dining room is the living room where you can gather to watch a film or play games. A big fireplace (not in use) with an ornate surround adds to the character, a large window gives an outlook over the tree lined garden. Next door is the games room where there's a traditional slate bed snooker table.

Dovesway has two staircases to the first floor, both taking you to the long part galleried landing; one is in the corner of the dining room, the other is just off the living room. Upstairs, Bedroom 1 is on a slightly lower level than the rest of the bedrooms; it’s a large room that sleeps 4 and has an ensuite bathroom with a free-standing bath and separate shower.

Step up to the main landing and the gallery that overlooks the dining room; off this are Bedrooms 2-4 (see Floorplans). Bedroom 2 sleeps 4 and has a shower room just across the landing; Bedroom 3 sleeps 2 and is right opposite a bathroom with a bath and separate shower. Bedroom 4 is a suite with two interconnecting rooms that each sleep 2, and an ensuite bathroom. On this floor all beds are zip and link (super king or twin); the bedrooms that sleep 4 make a great set up for families or for older children/friends sharing.

Next to Bedroom 2 stairs rise to the second floor where up in the eaves of the house with twin beds are Bedrooms 5 and 6.

The private garden is at the back of the house; to the side there are views across the fields and of the historic dovecote. On the terrace there’s a barbecue, outdoor furniture and a private hot tub. Run around on the lawn with the kids, play football or hide-and-seek, look for bugs in the wooded area. You'll also have access to wider grounds with a pond and paddock, so there's plenty of exploring to be done. Dovesway is a wonderful place to stay - bring on those big happy holidays! Book today!
