Zekki Restaurant, Wiveliscombe, Somerset

Zekki Restaurant in the heart of the small Somerset town of Wiveliscombe is owned and run by Tim Zekki – who is also the patron chef! Here, it’s all about friends and family gathering together to share delicious food, to chat and enjoy the good times, a concept inspired by Tim's memories of his childhood home in Northern Cyprus where his passion for cooking began in his father’s restaurant.

A cosy setting with ambient soft lighting makes the perfect backdrop to an amazing culinary experience; the focus of the food is on local and sustainable produce, sourced where possible from suppliers close to home; some of it is foraged from the fields and woodlands nearby. The menu is small plates, tapas style, starting off with things like Lebanese flatbreads and za’atar, Hummus kawarma (beef) with lemon sauce & pickled chilli, and Wonton crackers with mackerel pate, ponzu and aioli.

Then you’ll move onto grilled and roasted dishes - Grilled artichokes, borlotti bean and chermoula, Sliced roast beef with lobster bisque mayo and lilliput capers, or Slow roasted pork belly and braised lentils with dashi, scorched hispi and rouille sauce.

And desserts? How does Orange and olive oil cake with almond & raspberry sorbet grab you? Or White chocolate pannacotta with saffron & cardamom? Every single mouthful of everything you eat here is bursting with flavour; this is seriously delicious food that gets fantastic reviews.

Tim also runs events like guided foraging walks followed by a 5 course evening tasting menu – keep an eye out for those on social media.

Booking essential. Well worth dining here when you're on your large group holidays nearby.
