Frog Street - Accommodation

Once you’re off the A358, follow winding country lanes to a short private track that leads to Frog Street; right here is where your holiday in Somerset begins, this is your time for luxury togetherness. Dating back to the 15th century, this large group holiday house has oodles of character and original features - old elm beams and doors, exposed stone walls, big inglenook fireplaces, and in the living room, restored Jacobean panelling.

Go through the porch into the dining room where there's a big chunky table with colourful chairs to seat you all, and window seats to either side; this is a wonderful setting for any family celebration, everyone gathered around, glasses chinking, a scrumptious feast to tuck into. To the left is the farmhouse style kitchen with an outlook over the garden and across the fields where you might spot deer feeding. You’ll have no trouble rustling up a big breakfast, an elegant afternoon tea or a delicious roast dinner; in the corner a small table allows for cooking and mingling together; happy sociable times, just how holidays in the country ought to be.

Next to the dining room is the sitting room with big leather sofas to curl up on, and a wide screen TV; it's a lovely room to gather in after a wintry walk in the fields, with hot drinks and plates of hot buttery crumpets. Next door is the games room with a 3 in 1 table for pool, air hockey or table tennis; beyond that a hallway leads to Bedroom 6 which has an ensuite shower room and space for 1 extra guest bed (charged). From the hallway a big old door leads out to the front patio and a covered dining area - the perfect spot for breakfast in the sunshine.

The main staircase rises from the sitting room to a long landing; at one end is the Orchard Suite which is ideal for a family as Bedroom 1 sleeps 2 and has room for 2 extra guest beds (additional charge per person) and Bedroom 2 also sleeps 2; there’s a dressing room and an ensuite bathroom with a double ended bath and a separate shower. Next along the landing is the Garden Room (Bedroom 3) with a king size French bed and an ensuite bathroom with an overhead shower; Bedroom 4, the Willow Room, has its own shower room. All the bedrooms, except Bedroom 3 have zip and link beds (super king or twin). A second staircase leads from the games room to the Snug Room (Bedroom 5), with an ensuite bathroom with a roll top bath and separate shower.

The gardens are at the front of the house and are south facing; a rustic archway leads to a patio with garden furniture beneath a pergola; a lovely spot to shelter from the hot sun or for drinks under the twinkly lights on warm evenings. Just beyond is a Nordic style BBQ lodge that you can use any time of year; it’s even got its own kitchen, so you won’t need to keep carrying things to and from the house. The young ‘uns will be happy as larks out here because there’s so much room to run and play, as well as swings and a football goal.

In front of the patio there’s a lawned area and a spa lodge with a 5m swim spa and changing facilities; on the veranda there’s more seating and a hot tub perfectly positioned to take in the pastoral views over the fields. Beyond the lodge are trees, ripe with plums and damsons in early autumn. Frog Street is a dream; peace and quiet, fresh air, and all you need for the perfect large group stay. Book today!
