Gloucester Docks, Gloucester, Gloucestershire

If you're visiting Gloucester when you're on your large group holiday in the UK, wander down to Gloucester Docks, where red brick Victorian warehouses and other buildings have been given a new lease of life and make for a great free destination to spend a few hours wandering around and taking in the sights. Previously used for storing cargo, the buildings are now home to a designer shopping outlet, museums, an antique shop, a micro brewery with a shop and tasting room, and a range of cafes and restaurants, including two on converted narrow boats. You can learn stand up paddle boarding alongside tall ships, or join a guided tour around the docks (pre-booking essential). You can sit back and enjoy a leisurely cruise on the canal and the River Severn, or you can hire a self drive narrow boat with seating for up to 10 passengers – a great way to admire the views on the scenic inland waterways.
