Greenway Farm, Wembdon, Bridgwater, Somerset
At Greenway Farm near Bridgwater the focus is all about the land and making the best of it, and that’s exactly what they’ve done. The backdrop is a traditional Victorian farmhouse set amidst glorious Somerset countryside; this is where chickens run free, geese, sheep and rare breed pigs are raised, where you can buy the home reared pork, lamb and sausages.
Talking of sausages, if you’ve always fancied having a bash at making your own, here’s your chance; they run sausage making classes, and meat curing, and for an insight into husbandry, the basics of pig keeping. All jolly good things for hen parties, corporate groups and families to do, especially the sausage making because you can take them home and have them for tea.
They also have a restaurant here where the mains menu looks rather exciting - Pan-fried duck breast with spiced, braised red cabbage and a black cherry sauce, Vegetable, chickpea and kale curry, with coconut cream, boiled rice and spiced naan bread (V), and Baked salmon fillet with lemon, garlic and creamy spinach all feature on it – seriously tempting!
