Harcombes - Accommodation

Pootle down the long drive to Harcombes, pull up outside and drop off your bags before parking in the barn next to the house. Take a breath of that wholesome country air, then step inside the hallway. Back in the day this was a threshing barn – look around and you’ll see that some of the original timbers have been retained, mixing the old with the cool and the quirky.

Off to the left there’s a utility room with laundry facilities, and Bedroom 1. A bespoke spiral staircase takes you up to the first floor or down to the lower ground floor – more later.

Right of the hall is the second living room, with sofas to curl up on and a wood-burner to bring a cosy glow to colder days. Doors open to a huge glass fronted balcony with outdoor furniture and the loveliest views of the unspoilt valley.

Continue through to a small kitchen – very handy as it means you don’t have to go down to the main kitchen on the lower ground floor. Carry on and on the left is Bedroom 2, on the right is a loo with an original prison door! Straight ahead are Bedrooms 3 and 4.

Back at the other end of the house, next to Bedroom 1, the stairs go up to Bedrooms 5-7. Bedrooms 8 and 9 are accessed via another spiral staircase that rises from the kitchen.

Go down the first staircase to the lower ground floor and WOW! It’s all open-plan with a well-equipped kitchen, a long dining table and another wood-burner; step down to the living space where there’s heaps of comfy seating, and in the corner of the room, a bar. At the other end is the back kitchen with extra ovens and a commercial glasswasher. Doors open from the living space to the terrace where there’s a bbq, outdoor dining furniture and incredible views over the valley.

To one side of the dining area there’s a loo and Bedroom 10, which is access friendly with double doors giving direct access from the garden.

What’s great is that the garden is private and not overlooked, there’s underfloor heating throughout all floors and all bedrooms have wardrobes. The icing on the cake is that you’ll have exclusive use of the outdoor heated pool (March to October) in two 1.5 hour slots each day. There’s also shared use of the play field and the games room, which has table football and table tennis, and you can merrily wander the 52 acres grounds, with fields, woodlands, a stream, pond and County Wildlife Site.

Make your holiday dreams come true when you stay at Harcombes; stack those memories high. Book today!
