Hobbledown, Epsom, Surrey
This 50 acre farm park and zoo in Surrey is based on the Hobbledown book, and if you’ve read it you won’t be at all surprised at the quirkiness of this place. The kids love it because it’s so magical and just so much fun; there’s loads to do – animals to get close to like meerkats, coatis, camels, pygmy goats, and wallabies, and there are birds of prey too. They do animal experiences but you have to book in advance of course.
The themed adventure play area is a hoot; it has a Mining Village, a courtyard where they hold shows and you can join in the role play, and there’s Hobbledown Village, with a labyrinth of secret passages and aerial walkways to explore. What else? High ropes, zorbing, an indoor play barn, and a Hobnosh restaurant that sells tasty street food. What’s good about Hobbledown is that much of it is under cover so it’s definitely an all weather attraction; note to self.
