House on the Hill - Access Statement

Introduction
House on the Hill is a spacious holiday house for large group holidays, in a very peaceful setting in the beautiful Chalke Valley AONB on the Wiltshire/Dorset border. The property sleeps up to 24 guests and has 8 ensuite bedrooms; there's a games room, a movie room and an outdoor heated pool for use from April to October.
Pre-Arrival
By train - The nearest train station is at Salisbury, a 25 minute drive away. Taxis are available from the station.
By bus - The nearest bus station is at Salisbury. Taxis are available from the station.
By car - You will find detailed directions by road in your check in information after you have made a booking.
Groceries: Waitrose, Morrisons, Asda and Tesco will all deliver to House on the Hill.
Key Collection, Welcome and Car Parking
The key to the property is held in an external key safe located left of the porch. Details of the key safe combination will be given prior to arrival. There are lights in the porch.
All keys are the responsibility of the rental guests and we advise that you always use the key safe during your stay.
All guests will be welcomed by a property manager and will be given a tour of the house. This will usually be at around 6.15pm or by arrangement, later.
A single track leads to the property where you will find a large parking area with enough space for 10 cars. You then cross a very short and flat yard to the house. All outside paths are well lit at night by light sensor lights.
Entrance to Property
Although there are steps in the house, parts of it are wheelchair accessible.
There is a double entrance to the porch with no step to the inner entrance door (83cm wide). The floor is wooden, lighting is ceiling and wall lights.
Halls, Stairs, Landings, Passageways
There are 3 sets of wooden stairs; all are 84cm wide.
Sitting Room/Lounge
There is 1 wood-burner and 2 open fires.
Conservatory with French doors leading onto the patio.
There is a television with remote control and option for subtitles/audio description.
The area is well lit during daylight by natural light. At night there are ample spotlights and overhead lighting, along with a floor standing light.
Kitchen
2 kitchens, both accessible from ground level
The flooring is tiled throughout.
The kitchen is to the right of the hall, with a dining table to seat 24.
Bedrooms and Sleeping Areas
No TVs in bedrooms.
Carpets in all bedrooms.
Bedroom 1- has a super king bed and an ensuite with a big walk in corner shower and a free standing bath in front of the window. The dressing room has a small double bed (charged extra) and its own ensuite with a roomy shower.
Bedroom 2 - has a brass super king bed and an ensuite with a bath and shower.
Bedroom 3 - has a super king bed. This room has an ample ensuite shower room.
Bedroom 4 - has a king size sleigh bed and a dressing room with 2 single beds. It has a good sized ensuite with a bath and shower.
Bedroom 5 - has a super king bed and two single beds, so it makes a great family room. It has an ensuite with a bath and a shower.
Bedroom 6 - has a king size bed and an ensuite bathroom with a free standing bath. On the galleried landing next to this is a sofa bed to sleep 2, which can be booked as a Chargeable Extra.
Bedroom 7- has a bathroom and twin painted antique French beds.
Bedroom 8 - has a king size bed and an ensuite wet room at the end of the living space, with a door width of 80cm. There is a 73cm door width to the room.
Garden
8 acre garden.
Terraces from house accessible for wheelchairs.
No play equipment.
Ponds - not for swimming and are unfenced so please supervise children at all times.
Swimming Pool
CHILDREN MUST BE SUPERVISED AT ALL TIMES.
The pool is 13m x 4m with a paved surround and seating.
The games room has a bar, table tennis, a pool table and table football.
Free internet access is available.
