Hunky-Dory - Accommodation

At your journey's end pull into the car park at Hunky-Dory, then go in through the side porch; step through to the kitchen and what you'll notice is how all those lovely old features in this Georgian farmhouse have been retained and how well they blend in with the contemporary style. This kitchen is a big sociable space that has everything you need for your large group holiday - room for slicing and dicing, plenty of oven space, heaps of storage and a chef's table you can sit at for a good natter, right in view of the gastronomic action.

Off the kitchen there's a walk-in pantry, a door to the 'back' staircase used by the servants back in the day, and a utility room. Straight ahead of the kitchen is the dining area, a stunning light-filled space with glass walls and ceiling, and doors that open onto the terrace. What's remarkable is how cool this room stays on scorching hot days - despite all that glass. Centre piece is a chunky dining table, on an original Georgian brick wall is a huge TV.

The terrace is a wonderful spot with outdoor table tennis, garden furniture and an outdoor kitchen with a barbecue, pizza oven and firepit. There are steps up to a lawn and to the pool, hot tub and barrel sauna; the hot tub and heated pool can be used any time of year - just imagine sitting back in the hot tub watching the clouds drift by or looking up at a night sky studded with stars... The walled garden has a gate at the top giving views of the open fields; in late summer the boughs of the apple tree are heavy with fruit, so crumble and custard could well be on the menu for pudding.

Back inside, right of the kitchen is the living room, with colourful sofas and chairs and a seat in the bay window. This is such an elegant room, a quiet space at the front of the house where you might gather for afternoon tea, or for a chat in the evening.

Off the kitchen a wide hallway leads to the main staircase and to a gaming zone/movie room, with a humongous screen, gaming chairs, an X-box and arcade games. Across the hall is the games room where you can play table football and air hockey and browse the Estates History Wall. Doors lead back through to the kitchen and dining area (this is a great house for hide and seek!).

Up the main or 'front' stairs, off a wide landing, are Bedrooms 1-4, all with ensuite shower rooms. Both staircases continue to Bedrooms 5-8 on the second floor. These also have ensuite shower rooms and Bedroom 7 has the bonus of a free-standing bath. Except for Bedroom 4, all beds at Hunky-Dory are zip and link, giving you the option of a super king/king or twins; Bedroom 4 has 2 handcrafted adult size bunk beds giving snooze space for 4, and Bedrooms 1, 3, 5, 7 and 8 can all accommodate extra guest beds at a small charge each (see Rooms). These spacious bedrooms are great for families or for friends sharing.

At the top of the garden in a separate building there's another games room, with a pool table. At the front of Hunky-Dory there's a private field where you can gather for leisurely picnics or a game of rounders. This is such a special place to stay, to come and make magical memories. Book today!

Hunky-Dory is on a private 20 acre estate in Wiltshire; there are other properties on the estate undergoing renovation for letting with Sleeps12 and whilst work is underway it is likely that you will hear/see evidence of this, though every effort will be made to keep this to a minimum. During the week the builders finish at 5pm Mon-Thurs and at 4pm on Fri; there will be no works at weekends unless absolutely necessary. The entrance to Hunky-Dory is not used by anyone other than guests staying at the house. For more information please see Ongoing Works at the Wiltshire Estate.
