Keepers Cottage Inn, Kentisbeare, Cullompton, Devon
From the outside, Keepers Cottage Inn harks back to a time when life was very, very different than it is now. It’s a lovely old thatched cottage, with tables beneath the trees in the garden, hanging baskets on the porch and roses clambering up the whitewashed wall. That traditional business is a constant theme throughout – you know, well kept local beer and cider, hearty portions of homemade pub fare, just what you’d expect from a family run pub in Devon. On the mains are things like Breaded plaice fillet with salad and coleslaw and a choice of chips or potatoes, local butcher’s beefburger, steaks with all the trimmings, homemade chicken tikka, whole trout, and mushroom stroganoff. For something lighter at lunchtime there are sandwiches, baked potatoes and salads. Keepers Cottage is on the road from Cullompton to Honiton so if you’re out that way, stop off for a drink or a bite.
