Leatherhead Museum, Leatherhead, Surrey
Leatherhead Museum is very aptly housed in a small and charming 17th century cottage that was once the home of the widow of a falconer – how romantic is that? And what a perfect setting!
Go and have a browse around because it’s a nice way to spend an hour or so, with displays and exhibitions that range from the ancient origins of the Leatherhead area, the part that agricultural and light industry played in its history, and life there during the Second World War. The last resident of the cottage was a dressmaker and there are examples of her work to see too. The world can be a crazy place these days and a visit to little museums like this are a bittersweet reminder that times were once so much more simple.
