Mompesson House, Salisbury, Wiltshire
Exquisite plasterwork, fine antique furniture, intricate embroidery, and an impressive collection of 18th century porcelain and drinking glasses; all can be seen at this charming William and Mary house standing within the walls of the historic cathedral close. The secluded walled garden is a haven, away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, the tea rooms are the perfect place to relax with a pot of tea and a generous slice of homemade cake.
Take the family; the little ones can enjoy finding the hidden objects on the family exploration trail and in the summer you can all play traditional games on the lawn; croquet and giant dominoes.
Mompesson House is open 11.00 am-5.00 pm every day from March to early November, and from 11.00 am to 3.30 pm Thursday to Sunday from late November to just before Christmas. Groups of 10-50 people are welcome, but no dogs.
