Mrs Jackson’s Victorian Tea Rooms, Porlock, Somerset
Well you don’t see this sort of thing very often these days, and what a delight this is, on the High Street in Porlock. ‘Tis a proper old fashioned tea room, where you can go and sit down and chat with the ladies who work there, choose what you want and have it brought to you on the prettiest vintage china; delicate little cups, floral teapots; perfick. They do breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea at Mrs Jackson’s, or on Friday and Saturday nights when they stay open a bit later you can have supper. The food is all home made and the customers rave about it – bubble and squeak, chicken pie, mushroom and stilton soup, exquisite cakes and freshly baked scones. Dogs are welcome, and it’s not just a summertime place, oh no; in the winter you can go and have hot buttery crumpets by the fire when it’s blowing a hoolie outside.
