Muse Brasserie, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

You’ll find Muse Brasserie in a quiet street just off Cheltenham town centre, set in a large red brick Victorian warehouse. It’s such a pretty restaurant; dark wood floors and tables contrast perfectly with the plush teal and dusty pink chairs, blue walls cleverly serve as wine racks, and there’s apple blossom… a profusion of it up above you, trailing over the hand painted wallpaper, even a hint of it on the menu, adorned by butterflies and birds.

So, yes, the décor is lovely, but what about the food and the whole dining experience? Well, the ethos at Muse Brasserie is that every guest should leave with his expectations exceeded, and a quick look at the reviews seems to verify that this is exactly how it is. When you arrive, you’re greeted warmly, if you decide to have a pre-dinner cocktail, it’ll be their own version of classics and they’ll be good.

That attentive service continues throughout your dining experience, bringing you food that’s full of deliciousness in every aspect. European classics are given a very creative Asian twist, a subtle but very effective blend of the two cuisines, made using the finest ingredients and modern cooking techniques.

The A La Carte menu has fixed price lunches, a vegan section and Sunday roasts. There are main courses like Venison loin, celeriac and potato dauphinoise with mushroom pithivier and red currant sauce, Sweet potato and chick pea curry with cumin rice, and Chalk stream trout with clams, apples and spiced shellfish sauce. There’s also a Group Set Menu of two or three courses with mains similar to the A La Carte Menu – for example, Butternut squash risotto with truffle oil, Chicken Tikka lababdar with papadum and paratha, and Cassoulet a la Maison.

All good, so if you’re looking for somewhere to eat when you’re staying nearby on your large group holiday in the UK, book a table, go and enjoy.
