New Milton, Hampshire

New Milton is a lively market town in the south west corner of Hampshire. It’s got a fairly good mix of shops and places to eat, and once a week the wide high street plays host to a bustling street market. There’s actually been a settlement here since Domesday times, although there’s no evidence of much in the way of history as the architecture is pretty much all 20th century. Nowt wrong with that, but don’t go expecting to find it all traditionally attractive because it’s not. New Milton does have quite a bit going for it though and it seems to be on the up in terms of people relocating to live here. One thing highly in its favour is the beach at Barton on Sea, which is pretty much a suburb of New Milton now.

From New Milton you can head off into the New Forest exploring, or pootle along the coast to Lymington where yachting is a big thing.
