Odette’s Tea Rooms, Wellington, Somerset
If tea and cake are your thing you should allow time for a visit to Odette’s Tea Rooms on the high street when you’re staying near Wellington on your large group holidays. This pretty tea room takes its inspiration from a local World War II heroine and manages to combine a rustic Somerset feel with French chic. They serve an interesting menu of platters, with cold meats, cheeses and pates to choose from, as well as French tartines, Baked Camembert and things like Smoked salmon and scrambled egg. Lighter bites include a good selection of sandwiches, giant crumpets and baked potatoes, but what you really ought to treat yourselves to is one of their speciality afternoon teas – how does a Chocoholics Cream Tea sound, or a Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea? If the sun is shining sit out in the secluded garden where they grow a lot of the ingredients they use; lap it up, life is to be enjoyed.
