Once a post office (hence the name), Penny Black is right in the town centre in leafy Leatherhead, with a nice airy modern feel inside and a sunny courtyard out the back. It’s a friendly place where they have live music once a month, weekly quiz nights and big screens for the latest matches. They have a thing for great British food, so the all day menu has bar snacks like pigs in blankets and mini chilli nachos, wraps, platters, and classics like beer battered fish & chips, Hepburn smoked ham, triple cooked chips, fried eggs & piccalilli, and Hanger steak, triple cooked chips, garlic & parsley butter, with grilled tomato. But what they really love at Penny Black and what they have a fantastic reputation for is burgers, so there's a Burger Shack where you can choose from The Chicken, The Veggie, The Pulled Pork, The Lamb, The venison, and The Chilli Dog, nom nom. Locals also rave about the Sunday roast, and on that note, Penny Black is one you can take the whole family too as there's even a Children’s Menu for kids who won’t eat grown ups food. So, good tucker, good atmos; there’ no reason not to give it a whirl.
