Pittville Park, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
Divided in two by the Evesham Road, Pittville Park was opened in 1825 as the pleasure grounds of what was to be a town to rival Cheltenham. The eastern side is where you’ll find the Regency Pittville Pump Room, a Grade I building with a grand domed ballroom where people could go to take the famous spa waters from an ornamental marble and scagliola pump. It stands overlooking sweeping lawns and a lake; there’s a large play area for children with sand and water play, and aviaries with birds and small animal.
The western side is much bigger, with a boating lake, a tennis court, pitch and putt golf course, a skate park, BMX park and smaller children’s play areas. It’s also home to The Boathouse Café where nature trails and events are held throughout the year.
