Ridgeview - Accommodation
Head slowly up the drive to Ridgeview; horses graze contentedly in the fields, the backdrop is gently rolling hills. Park in the courtyard where there’s a games room with a pool table, table football and a big TV. Step inside your luxury large group holiday house, light and airy with contemporary interiors.
Right of the entrance hall there’s a cloakroom where you can dry the dogs and leave your boots after a wholesome walk in the fresh air. Steps lead down to Bedrooms 1 and 2, both with ensuite shower rooms; between the bedrooms doors open onto the pool terrace. Left in the hall are steps down to the movie room where you can cosy up for film nights on the big fat horseshoe sofa; doors open onto the terrace, there’s a wood-burner for the colder months.
Straight on from the hall there’s a utility room on the left with laundry facilities; next is Bedroom 3, a very spacious room with its own bathroom with a stunning free-standing copper bath, and a separate WC. All bedrooms have zip and link beds that can be arranged as super kings or twins.
Opposite the utility room steps go down to the kitchen, a very sleek and well-equipped room where light pours in through floor to ceiling windows. Lay the table with croissants, toast and jam, gather round for breakfast. The large central island means there’s somewhere to perch and chat, time for a glass of wine while dinner’s in the oven.
In the adjacent dining room a long table sets the scene for big happy dinner times and celebration feasts; hire private caterers or cocktail waiters (see Extras) and make it one to remember. Full height windows bring the light in, there’s a wood-burner for extra warmth if you need it – the house has very efficient underfloor heating throughout, with individual room control. If you’re eco minded you’ll be glad to hear that Ridgeview uses air source heat pumps and solar energy – big green tick.
Off the dining room is a small lobby; straight ahead is Bedroom 9, an extra bedroom to sleep 2 additional guests, charged per person. to the right is the second staircase and Bedroom 4, which has an ensuite shower room. Being close togethet, these two bedrooms make a great set up for a family, with parents in one room and children in the other. To the left is the living room, where you can chill out and watch TV; doors open onto a terrace that early birds will favour for spectacular sunrises. Off the living room is the spa room, a luxury that makes Ridgeview so perfect for family holidays and hen weekends alike; book therapists to come and pamper you, unwind in the hot tub or sauna, play table tennis with the kids.
Upstairs from the entrance hall, on the left is Bedroom 5, another room with a copper bath tub and separate shower in the ensuite bathroom. Along the landing are Bedrooms 6 and 7, both with their own luxurious shower rooms right opposite. Between them there’s a quiet area with sofas, somewhere to take 5, have a read or a quiet chat, right at the end is Bedroom 8 with an ensuite shower room. Every room in the house has an outlook over the pool terrace, the landscaped gardens, or across to Exmoor.
Out on the south facing pool terrace you can take a dip whenever you like (the pool can be used year round); slip into the hot tub sited tropical style in a breeze hut by the pool; get the steaks sizzling and enjoy an afternoon of complete relaxation.
At the other side of the house sit out on the terrace, take in the fresh air and the glorious views over the immense lawns and the countryside beyond. Wander down to the pond, linger in the breeze huts, spend evenings out there enjoying the tranquility. If the weather's not on your side, it doesn't matter because the terrace is protected from the elements by a huge canvas roof; this takes on a very atmopsheric feel in the evening - a Bedouin style room outdoors with sofas, a dining area, and outdoor heating beneath festoon lights.
