Ringwood, Hampshire

Ringwood is a pretty and unspoilt town at the edge of the New Forest on the River Avon; old town charm, centuries old buildings, it’s nice. Not much goes on here and there’s not a lot here but in a way, that’s what’s good about it, feeling like you’re really away from the hordes is a happy feeling.

So what can you do here? You could have a guided tour of the brewery, or you could go for a walk on a town trail or on one of the footpaths that leads from the town into the gorgeous countryside. It gets a bit more lively on Wednesday mornings when there’s a street market, but there’s a good mix of shops anyway, and there are some tempting places to eat; Italian seems to be a bit of a thing here, so try Amarone Restaurant or V&G’s Ristorante Italiano, and for pubs go to the Elm Tree or The Fish Inn.
