Riverside To Hillside Murder Mystery Treasure Trail, Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire

The Riverside To Hillside Murder Mystery Treasure Trail is a great way to explore Bradford on Avon, and it's something the whole family can do together, so two birds, one stone, as they say.

The tour is a self guided one that you download from the internet; what you do is follow the route, solving clues as you go to eliminate suspects and find the perpetrator of the crime. The clues are all based on buildings, monuments and permanent structures in the town, so you get a good history lesson thrown in too - in this case one that takes in one of the country's best preserved Saxon churches, centuries old Cotswold stone cottages and imposing town houses once lived in by wealthy merchants.
The beauty of this Murder Mystery Treasure Trail is that you do it all at your own pace, but if you wanted to do it all in one go you'd need to allow around one and a half hours to complete the entire 1.3 mile circular trail. They say it's for ages 6+ but anyone can do it, so it's a good one to get the whole family involved in, pet pooch and all. Take a picnic and have it down by the canal basin, or book a table at one of the places to eat in town - The Bunch of Grapes and Timbrell's Yard are both excellent, or get yourselves a hearty fish and chip supper down at the station.
