Seven Sisters Country Park, Seaford, East Sussex
Within the South Downs National Park, the Seven Sisters Country Park covers over 690 acres of chalk cliffs, meandering river valley and open grassland; it has some rare flora and fauna and attracts an abundance of wildlife, especially migratory birds.
This makes for a great day outdoors when you’re on your large group holidays in East Sussex; it’s a chance to get out and embrace the fresh air, the beautiful scenery and just to be close to nature. Pack your walking boots because the South Downs Way runs through the park; there’s an easy Access Trail for wheelchairs, mobility scooters and pushchairs.
If you prefer to venture forth on bikes, you can hire them from Cuckmere Cycle Company. There are lanes and traffic free routes starting from their shop and right next to the park, Friston Forest has several trails for all abilities. Hire kayaks and paddleboards from Buzz Active Cuckmere, stay out after dark stargazing and you might catch a glimpse of the milky way.
The obvious is to take a hearty picnic with you – egg sarnies, sausage rolls, bottles of fizzy pop, but if you’d rather not there are food outlets by the Visitor Centre and in one of the car parks. Otherwise you could go to the Saltmarsh Kitchen or the The Cuckmere Inn.
Car parks are open from dawn till dusk every day.
