Soar Mill Cove Hotel, Soar Mill Cove, Salcombe, Devon
Soar Mill Cove Hotel has an incredible setting up on the clifftop between Salcombe and Hope Cove, just a short walk from the sandy beach. All around is the beautiful South Devon coastline, owned and looked after by the National Trust, in front is the sparkling sea. Wander back up after a few hours on the beach for a luscious cream tea of freshly baked scones with homemade raspberry jam, fresh strawberries and lashings of clotted cream.
Otherwise, while away the whole afternoon on the sands and go to the award winning restaurant for dinner. The menu showcases the best of local produce, with fresh fish and seafood from the nearby shores and veg that’s grown within a few miles. Mains for grown ups include mouthwatering temptations like Whole grilled Torbay sole, baby new potatoes & citrus salad, Salcombe ale battered cod with hand-cut chips, chunky tartare sauce & peas, and Chargrilled West Country rib eye steak, grilled tomatoes, field mushroom, hand-cut chips with Port or peppercorn sauce. If you decide to do things the other way round and come for lunch before heading down to the beach you can choose from a lunch menu of sandwiches (Handpicked Salcombe crab with zesty mayo & lemon, West Country Cheddar cheese & fruit chutney and Hand carved ham) or light bites such as Moules Marinière or a very healthy Quinoa & asparagus superfood salad. That’s if you’re not tempted by the Fish board with Salcombe crab, crevettes, smoked salmon, classic Marie Rose dip and zesty mayo, crusty bread and wild leaves…
Post 2.:30pm you can indulge in a Devon cream tea or a Savoury cream tea, or spoil yourselves with a decadent Luxury afternoon tea to include finger sandwiches and Lemon tart, macaroon & chocolate caramel tart.
