At Surf Saunton you get surf lessons from two guys who have plenty of experience and are fully qualified ISA instructors and beach lifeguards. They operate from the golden sands of Saunton where conditions are ideal for beginners and the more advanced surfers; waves typically break with a 200 metre ride and there’s minimal water movement so you don’t tend to get the currents and rips that you do on other beaches along the North Devon coast.
So, book in advance whether you’re a first timer wanting to learn to surf or if you’re just after a bit of advice to hone your technique. Surf Saunton do taster sessions, one-to-one coaching and group lessons, so it’s an exciting activity for corporate team building and hen parties, and it’s fun for families, the only proviso being that children under 8 years old must be accompanied in the water by an adult. A board, wetsuit and any other equipment you need is included so you just need to bring your bathing costume, a towel and if it’s necessary, your sun cream.
If you haven’t done it before, try it. The 3 and a half mile stretch of sand at Saunton and the stunning scenery make a fantastic environment for your first surf lesson. You won’t forget it.
