The Arundell Arms Hotel, Lifton, Devon
The Arundell Arms is a classic country hotel standing on the main street in the small village of Lifton on the edge of Dartmoor National Park and close to the borders of Devon and Cornwall. It has a big pull for piscators with over 20 miles of privately owned river fishing in the beautiful surrounding countryside. The food is very, very good and there are several different places to sit so you can choose from pub classics, Brasserie style food, or opt for fine dining; either way you won’t be disappointed. Out the back is a peaceful garden with a quirky round hut once used for cock fighting (you can still see the pit) – nowadays it’s the rod and tackle room where you book your tickets for day fishing.
Just down the road is Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre so you could call into the Arundell Arms for tea on your way back.
