The Bridge Inn, Dulverton, Somerset
If you’re staying near Dulverton on your large group holiday in Somerset, or stopping off here when you’re out and about exploring Exmoor National Park, go to The Bridge Inn for eats. This is a well frequented pub, with traditional country feels and a lovely setting on the banks of the River Barle.
Sit outside on the terrace when it’s sunny, watch the comings and goings, enjoy the views of the wooded hillsides on the edge of this peaceful little town. When it’s not warm enough to be outdoors, stay in by the wood-burner, all nice and cosy.
The menu is seasonal and showcases fresh local produce from trusted suppliers. Try a pint of the local ale, have it with something snacky from the menu - Wiltshire ham hock & applewood smoked Cheddar croquettes with pimento aioli, their Secret recipe Hoisin pork belly bites with sesame and scallions, or ‘12 spice’ crusted, deep fried tofu with house chipotle mayo & pickles.
From 12:00-4:30pm there’s a sandwich menu, or for more of a bellyful, the mains have things like The Bridge’s seriously beefy, beef burger, Indulgent Fish Pie, Aubergine Rollatini, and Himalayan salt dry aged 7oz Ribeye steak. Come for a roast on Sunday, walk it off with an excursion to the heaths and combes of Exmoor, or a stroll along the river at Tarr Steps.
The warm welcome extends to our four legged friends. The advice is to book in advance, because even on a week night in the depth of winter, the tables can still be full here.
