The Britannia, Guildford, Surrey
The award winning Britannia in Guildford is a riverside watering hole that gets busy when the weather is good and folk like to sit outside on the deck in the sunshine. Inside it’s open plan contemporary style and at the heart of their ethos is getting people together to enjoy a good chat and decent food; they have highchairs, board games, books, and even dog beds and treats, so it’s a good one for families.
What’s good about the food is that ingredients are primarily local; the owners work with a network of farmers, fishermen and food producers throughout the South East so they know they can rely on what goes into their dishes being fresh and sustainable. On the main menu are things like Beef, ale & onion pie, Hand carved roast ham and eggs, British crab and crayfish linguine, and a selection of burgers and sandwiches. There’s a Young Diners menu too – isn’t that nice, calling it 'young diners' rather than a kids menu? We think so.
Go along, it’s nice and ambient and you’ll be well looked after.
