The Cottage Inn, Keenthorne, Nether Stowey, Bridgwater TA5 1HZ
Easy to find, right on the A39 not much more than a mile from Nether Stowey, The Cottage Inn is one of those more traditional country pubs that are increasingly hard to find these days. Inside it’s pretty much how it’s been for years; thick stone walls, chunky beams and patterned carpet, with a more modern choice of furniture in the tables and chairs. Anyhow, they stock a decent choice of ciders and ales, and the food is good honest home cooked fare that you can eat in the restaurant, bar or snug.
The lunch menu has mains like cottage pie, chilli chicken masala, local ham, free range egg & chips, and chickpea & sweet potato curry. It’s a similar story in the evening with a few more additions, and what gets good reviews is the Sunday lunch when there’s a choice of 3 meats and a veggie option as well as the usual menu.
What else? Monday night is curry night, they have Fish Friday with freshly battered cod and chips and a pint all for £9.50, and they do homemade cream teas. Give it a try.
