The Crabshell Inn, Kingsbridge, Devon
The Crabshell Inn is one of the best places to eat in Kingsbridge, down on the quay with the perfect combination of a great location, good food and a happy atmosphere. The family who run it have done themselves proud because it’s a popular place with the locals and with visitors; they know how to make you feel welcome and they know how to have fun.
Dining is the laid back kind, with freshly prepared food made from locally sourced ingredients. Service kicks off with breakfast early in the morning and runs right through to dinner time, or you can swing by and grab something tasty to takeaway from the Moroccan inspired deli. Sit inside where it’s light and airy with rustic waterside inspired décor, or find a table outdoors and watch the boats go by.
The menu is good - Sharing boards, Local rope-grown mussels, Bouillabaisse, Salt n pepper squid, Hand-picked crab sandwiches, Crab and lobster spring rolls, pizzas, and Beef burgers and Buttermilk chicken burgers, so plenty to choose from, plus a menu for the little folk.
As with a lot of places to eat on the South Devon coast, The Crabshell Inn can be busy in the main season, but the vibe is high and it’s such a wonderful place to be on a lazy hazy summers day, or in the evening when the sunset casts it glorious colours over the estuary.
