The Cricketers Arms, Berwick, Polegate, East Sussex
Here’s a nice thing to do when you’re out exploring on your large group holiday in East Sussex. Go to Alfriston, walk across the fields to Berwick church, pop in to see the incredible Bloomsbury group murals, and then go to The Cricketers Arms for lunch.
This is very much a traditional pub, proper homemade food, beer from the local brewery in Lewes, a friendly welcome and smiley service. If you don’t want much to eat, just have a Toasted ciabatta or a Ploughman’s, but if you’re looking to fill your belly, choose from the likes of Homemade pie of the day with mash, greens, roasted carrot and gravy, Hunters Chicken Schnitzel with melted cheese, bacon and barbeque sauce, citrus roasted potatoes and spring greens, or a homemade steak mince burger (spiced falafel burger for those who don’t eat meat).
Inside is fresh and fairly modern, at the front of the pub there’s a large garden with trees and flowers, a lovely spot on a warm day.
