The Five Dials, Horton, Somerset
A popular village pub that serves excellent food and is highly recommended. On the menu are traditional pub style dishes, but with a creative contemporary twist; to give you an idea - Beef, ale & vegetable pie with mash and seasonal veg, Venison & chorizo burger with flat mushroom, blue cheese, red onion & tomato relish, triple cooked chips & dressed leaves, and Spinach, sweet potato, courgette, pepper, feta & pine nut strudel with pumpkin seed pesto and autumn vegetables. There's a big emphasis on fresh and seasonal, with ingredients sourced as close to home as possible.
They also serve very good local ales and craft ciders at The Five Dials, including the famous Somerset Cider Brandy that’s made nearby at Burrow Hill. In the evenings the bar has a very convivial atmosphere, when the locals come in to exchange chit-chat; it feels like a very happy place to be. In the colder months you can sit by the fireside and warm your toes, in the summer it's rather lovely out in the garden. Large groups are very welcome, but advance booking is essential.
