The George Inn, Donyatt, Ilminster, Somerset
You can’t miss the George at Donyatt, it’s right on the main road that goes through the village and round the back there’s a car park, so stop by for lunch or go there for dinner. Inside it’s what you’d expect from a Somerset pub, lots of character, a wood-burner, old photographs on the walls, and a welcoming and relaxed ambience. And when the service is as friendly and attentive as it is here it makes it so much better.
The food is good home made pub favourites plus some very tempting specials from a very creative chef. Try the Steak and Real Ale Pie, the George Inn Burger, or Pork belly in a cider and grain mustard sauce, served with buttered new potatoes and fresh seasonal veg. There’s a good grill selection and something for vegetarians and vegans too – the Spinach, sweet potato and chickpea curry is excellent; if you go for roast on Sunday you won’t be disappointed.
There’s plenty of room for big groups but make sure you book ahead.
