The Hatch Inn, Hatch Beauchamp, Somerset
This former coaching inn has a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and the family who run it are passionate about serving good food with friendly service. The village is only 5 miles from Taunton and is surrounded by beautiful countryside so it's definitely one to bookmark for lunch after a good country walk. Inside it's warm and inviting with flags on the floors, exposed stonework, open fires and leather sofas. Ingredients are locally sourced and on the mains menu are temptations like Navarin of Lamb Chump with Spring Veggies and New Potatoes, Chilli & Crab Linguine, and West Country Faggots with Horseradish Mash and Peas. There's a good choice of steaks and ciabattas along with all the pub classics and vegetarians/vegans are catered for; the Sunday roast is very popular. Families are welcome, dogs are welcome - it's that kind of place.
