You can’t beat a decent traditional village pub, where you get a warm welcome, a pint of well kept beer and a generous portion of tasty homemade fare. That’s exactly how it is at The Merry Harriers not far from Cullompton– reliable, dependable. The family who runs this place have been here for over 10 years and they’ve got it going good, locals love it, visitors leave feeling very satisfied. They do all that thing with local ingredients and that, like everyone should be doing these days, supporting the community, reducing pollution. Anyway; the lunch menu: it’s good honest stuff like sandwiches, baguettes, baked potatoes, Ploughman’s, omelettes and salads; plenty enough to see you through ‘til dinner time. The main bar menu has a good choice of burgers, sharing platters, steaks and pub favourites, and get this you veggies and vegans – Mushroom, Brie, Hazlenut & Cranberry Wellington, Sweet Potato and Three Bean Pie, Sizzling Stir-Fried Vegetable Fajitas, Vegetable Curry – you’re well catered for! They also do some tempting specials – Home Made Homity Pie, Devonshire Mussels ‘Marinieres’, Dressed Mixed Crab, and Moroccan Lamb Tagine. Give it a whirl.
