The Old Inn, Hutton, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset
The Old Inn at Hutton in Somerset is a veritable beacon in the community, drawing locals and visitors who want to come and enjoy the country pub ambience, a chat and a drink, and award-winning food. Its success is down to the people who run it – people, not a brewery; they want their customers to have the best experience possible when they come here, so they make everyone feel welcome and they look after you.
Something else that’s important is the food – the quality and where ingredients come from. As far as possible, what goes into each and every dish is sourced locally, or at least in the South West. Being close to the coast means they can include fresh fish and seafood on the menu. Talking of which… choose from British favourites and world flavours; steaks that come with a choice of toppings and sauces, burgers, and at lunchtimes, sandwiches, baguettes, baked potatoes and omelettes. There are Sizzlers too, including Mark Moor mixed grill and The Orchard chicken sizzler, and daily specials like Sauteed duck breast with plum sauce, and Porlock spare ribs platter. Savour every mouthful, follow it up with something from the dessert menu, such as Raspberry white chocolate cheesecake, Bramley Apple Pie and Homemade bread and butter pudding. Go on a Sunday and fill your bellies with a hale and hearty roast dinner.
The Old Inn is easy to find, being on the main road through Hutton. Inside has all the traditions of a good village pub, with wooden floors, low ceilings, darts, and in the winter, a log fire to keep things toasty. When it’s warmer, sit outside where there’s a table for 24 and part covered decking with heaters and a wood-burner if it happens to turn a tad chilly.
Groups should book in advance.Dogs are welcome in the bar.
